We made some changes to the design of the homepages for each city which we hope will make things clearer for new users and help returning users get where they’re going faster.
The city homepage is a really important page, and it has a lot of work to do. We want to introduce the site to new users and give people a good idea of what they should expect when they dive in, but we also want to make sure everybody can get to the content as quickly as possible.
The easiest way to get to the core of each site’s content is to search for an address and get directly to the page for your block. One of the things we noticed in feedback from users was that the address search function was getting lost. There are a lot of different ways to explore the content on EveryBlock, and the address search was just one option among many.
With the new city homepage, the address search is right where it should be: front and center. We’ve also opened up the other browsing options a bit so they’re easier to scan. See how it looks for Chicago, New York City and San Francisco.
We think the new city homepage is a big improvement, but we’re always looking for ways to make things even better. As always, please let us know what you think, and keep the great suggestions and feedback coming.
