Help Feed Neighbors in Need with EveryBlockAug242012
Supporting neighbors in need is a common topic on EveryBlock. This is especially true when it comes to food drives, community resources and volunteer opportunities.
Recently, a Philly neighbor in Mayfair shared information about Aid for Friends, an organization offering free food and delivery of home cooked meals for the elderly. After learning that few residents were taking advantage of the group’s services, neighbors chimed in with requests for additional information and expressed their appreciation.
In New York City, the team at Sanctuary Suites, an East Village bed and breakfast, shares their free food program each week via Twitter and now on EveryBlock, to reach more neighbors. Both staff and hotel guests spend a few hours in Tompkins Square Park handing out free food to those in need and Sanctuary Suites uses EveryBlock to recruit new volunteers.
